Antique Georgian heavy 9CT gold lovers Eye mourning ring. This stunning piece is simply beautiful it has been made from solid gold and contains a small miniature watercolour on wafer of a young girls eye which is surrounded with a black and white enamel finish.
To the back of the ring is a beautiful inscription which I believe reads, Helen Humphrey died January 9, 1838 aged 15 years. The only information that I have on this lovely piece is that he ring itself was converted by the father after the passing of his wife form a brooch to a ring so that he could Carry on wearing it.
Although it has been converted it is an antique conversion period to the brooch. Please note that there is flex between the shank and the locket part of the Ring this is simply down to the way the shank fits the locket in order not to damage the enamel or the miniature painting inside. This item is offered in wonderful condition although does show some signs of age related wear. Please see photos for more details and part of the Description.
