Very special Victorian ring in 14k gold with a square face with clipped corners set with a cabochon turqouise. The shoulders are beautifully decorated with swirling details. Inside the ring behind the face is a hidden / secret panel that is hinged and flips open revealing a small box / compartment to hold hair as a mourning piece or perhaps snuff or opium.
It could also hold a small rolled message, tiny tablet, or a keepsake. Antique piece from the Victorian era that I acquired in Europe. Ring is about a size 7 1/4.
The ring face that holds locket box portion is about 11.5mm square. Please note that all my pieces are in estate condition. This is a very old piece with the moving parts so it needs a gentle hand. But the hinge is nice and tight and the little door is very secure. It does not really "snap" closed super tight but of course when wearing it, it is pressed against the finger so no danger of it opening. Some nicks and surface wear to the turquoise seen only under magnification. Surface wear and a few faint scuffs and scratches to the gold. But it has held its shape well. Pretty amazing fabrication with the locket face. But of course due to age - Please note due to age, this piece is not in mint condition. I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my store.
