Please read the product parameters carefully and choose the jewelry that suits you to avoid unnecessary trouble. 19th Century Victorian Pin brooch which could easily be made into a charm / pendant by any competent jeweler (I currently do NOT offer this service).
ANTIQUE - ca 1880 -1890s approx. Surrounded by black enamel which is in good condition.
Braided hair under bevel edged glass crystal. Hairwork or jewelry made of human hair, has appeared throughout history of craftwork particularly those made to be used for private worship and mourning. From the Middle Ages through the early twentieth century, memorial hair jewelry remained common. Hair, considered to be a remnant off the person it was cut from, also has often played a part in myths and legends. Very nicely detailed in the back (see pictures) - pictures are part of the description.
Pin itself is a bit warped. The actual pin (not the brooch) is not gold (most are steel). I have not cleaned this antique item. I tem may appear smaller or larger, heavier or lighter in the pictures vs. Real life - please refer to the measurements and the weight.14k yellow gold (not stamped - normal for a Victorian piece) - tested by me, a jeweler, I test all metals before listing the item. 14k gold is NOT as yellow as 18k gold. Pin itself is not gold (most of the pins attached to the brooches are not gold). 1 1/4 inches by 1 or 3.17 centimeters x 2.54 centimeters. Compare the item to a pin you own FOR SCALE. Use a measuring tape or a ruler so you can visualize the size properly. MORE ACCURATE THAN THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. Compare the weight to an item you own.
Read the product parameters carefully. And choose the jewelry that suits you to avoid unnecessary trouble. Approximate (never absolute) taken to the best of my abilities. Compare the measurements and the weight to a pin you own. I really cannot do better than this.
