The brooch is simply sublime, crafted with very fine Etruscan detail. Handcrafted by an artisan to a superior standard, designed with rope twist detailing, corded wire with a stunning ball and leaf design.
Set to the centre is a gorgeous, fiery, bright and lively sunburst set diamond. The photographs have done no justice at all to this stunning brooch.
The reverse of the brooch still features the original removable locket back. It is quite common for the locket back to be missing from brooches of this age, so to still have the original locket back is amazing and serves to highlight the quality of this exquisite antique Victorian brooch. Hallmarked "15ct" for 15 carat gold. This is the sponsor/ maker's mark for Ahronsberg Brothers of Albion street. Measures 40.70 length x 14.2mm width. Fastens with pin and c-clasp style fastening. There is a small hoop for the attachment of a safety chain if so desired. This is a really fine example, presented in excellent antique condition. A bit about 15ct gold.... It was in 1854 when 15ct gold was introduced into jewellery making and was then discontinued in 1932. Due to the fact that 15ct gold was only used for a short period of time in history makes it rather rare. It is becoming increasingly rare to find such beautiful genuine 15ct period pieces of jewellery. So it is well worth collecting. This is guaranteed to be a genuine period piece. A truly beautiful and splendid example of Victorian jewellery. Would make a great gift. Or why not treat yourself??? Please note that photographs have been enlarged to show as much detail as possible.
