Rare Georgian Ouroboros Snake Memento Mori Mourning Brooch In Gold With Hair. A highly collectable gold brooch, late 18th/early19th century in date. The Ouroboros motif, a snake or dragon biting its own tail, has existed as an image of eternity since ancient times, and remained popular when this brooch was made two hundred years ago. The hair plaited under the glass was given as a token of remembrance.
It is in good general condition for its age, with surface wear and minor dents etc as pictured but remains a good wearable piece. Please see pictures for size and condition.
